New Zealand Oak Open Days 2020 (CANCELLED)

Event Date:
Saturday, 25 April 2020 to Sunday, 26 April 2020

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, we have been obliged to cancel this event. We hope to be able to hold it on a future date.

Legendary Hackfalls Arboretum and Eastwoodhill Arboretum, the National Arboretum of New Zealand, are the protagonists of the two-day event, organized jointly by the IOS and the New Zealand Farm Forestry Association. Both these arboreta contain world-class oak collections, featuring Mexican oaks, and a day will be spent in each. Our focus on oaks will of course not blind us to the many other treasures these arboreta have to offer. Accommodation will be in the nearby town of Gisborne, so we'll spend most of the time looking at trees rather than traveling. While it is expected that most of the participants will be local IOS members and other tree enthusiasts from New Zealand, this is a rare and ideal opportunity for international visitors to make two days in outstanding oak collections part of a visit to New Zealand, a premier travel destination.

For more details, visit the New Zealand Farm Forestry Association website: https://www.nzffa.org.nz/events/ (scroll down to find Oak Open Days, Gisborne 25 - 27 April 2020)
