IOS Webinar #5: Regional Endemic Oaks in Turkey and the Oaks of Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

The IOS is pleased to announce our next virtual event, again co-hosted with the Global Conservation Consortium for Oak (GCCO), which will take place over Zoom at 10 am US Central Time on August 21, 2024

The webinar will feature two presentations. In the first, Dr. Elif Deniz Ülker, Project Manager at the Nature Conservation Center, Turkey, will focus on predicting the distribution patterns and population structures of three regional endemic oak species of Turkey (Quercus aucheri, Q. vulcanica, Q. pontica) under past and future climate changes, other environmental threats that they face, and the importance of developing conservation and management plans to protect them.

During the second section of the webinar, Kevin Martin, Head of Tree Collections at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew will present an overview of their oak collection. Following the presentations there will be Q&A.
